January President’s Message
Rotary President Liza Leonard’s January message.

Fellow Rotarians,

Welcome to the New Year! I’m excited to kick off 2022 with my fellow Rotarians and to make a difference in our community and seeking out new ways to be a “gift to the world”.

The Rotary International theme for January is Vocational Services. What exactly does Vocational Services mean for Rotarians? In Rotary, we emphasize integrity and high ethical standards that can help provide a road map for our behavior in professional as well as personal life.

We also recognize the worthiness of all useful occupations and dignify each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve our community and the world. Vocational Services calls on Rotarians to empower others by using their unique skills and expertise to address community needs.

Vocational Services also guides us to help others discover new professional opportunities and interests. Our January speakers will offer insights on the economy in the state of Idaho, as well as educate us on the efforts being made across the state to diversify and prepare Idaho’s workforce to meet the needs of communities and of employers. I hope these speakers will spark ideas on how our club can use this information to the benefit of our community.

Rotary International is challenging clubs with the Each One, Bring One initiative, which asks every member to introduce one person to Rotary. In the coming months, it would be wonderful to see Rotarians invite and engage guests from occupations and backgrounds we don’t currently have on our roster. Is there a business sector missing from our club? Or a portion of the community that we don’t see represented at our meetings and our service projects? Who could you invite that could help further diversify our club membership?

As you make your 2022 goals, please add the Each One, Bring One initiative to your list. Our club’s future relies on engaged members.

Thank you for the gift YOU are to the world and the gift you are to our club. I wish you the best as we embark on the incredible year ahead.
