Amanda Poitevin is a fifth-generation native of Idaho Falls. She holds a B.A. in history and French from Wellesley College and an M.A. in Historical Resources Management from Idaho State University. At ISU, Amanda was the recipient of the Outstanding Master's Student award. Amanda taught in private schools in Russia and Hailey, Idaho, before teaching middle school history in Idaho Falls for four years. She currently co-owns two independent book stores in Idaho Falls.

Amanda serves on the board of the Village Improvement Society and the Rotary Club of Idaho Falls, and she is the president of the board of Castle Bridge Preschool, a non-profit preschool in Idaho Falls. She also plays the cello with the Idaho Falls Symphony.

Amanda is married to her husband Michael and they have two young children. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys knitting, gardening, and nurturing an ever-evolving assortment of foster cats for the Idaho Falls Animal Shelter.
