In July, the US Department of Energy named Idaho as one of five finalist states to potentially host a major Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus. Senator Dave Lent will discuss the proposal and what this could mean for our region.
Senator Dave Lent is a native of Southeastern Idaho and grew up in Shelley. He is a graduate of Eastern Idaho Technical College and Idaho State University. Senator Lent worked for nearly forty years in the nuclear industry and received recognition from the Department of Energy for Distinguished Leadership, regulatory reform, and cost-cutting initiatives. He retired as the site-wide Training Manager for Fluor Idaho at the Idaho National Laboratory. Additionally, he served twelve years on the Idaho Falls School Board and played a key role in replacing four elementary schools and transitioning a junior high into a successful project-based high school.
Senator Lent has represented District 33, which covers much of Idaho Falls and portions of Bonneville County, in the Idaho Senate since 2019 and seeking his fourth term this November. He currently serves as the Chair of the Senate Education Committee as well as a member of the Senate Agricultural Affairs Committee, the Senate the Judiciary & Rules Committee, and Idaho's Advanced Nuclear Task Force.
